unpatented placer gold mining claim in Alpine County, Ca near the Historic Mining Town of Markleeville. This special rare claim consists of 20 acres along the
East Fork of the Carson River and Indian Creek.
This unique claim is located in the Historic Mining District Monitor-Mogul. This was a very important silver and gold district in the 1850’s & 1860’s and produced 5 million in gold and silver at the old price!! Many old cabins and mine ruins still remain in the area and are a must see. Markleeville is a nice little quiet town with friendly people and warm service. In town you will find a general store, gas station, bar & grill, hotels and much more. Don’t forget to bring those fly rods or fishing poles as the Carson River is a well known trophy trout stream with massive rainbows. If you require a night out or more supplies drive thirty minutes and you will be in South Lake Tahoe and the casino’s. Need an even larger town, drive 30 minutes to Gardnerville & Minden or an hour and you will be in Carson City, Nevada!! As you can see this claim is located in a desired area for both California and Nevada residents looking for great gold sweet family recreation and fun things to see and do. As far as the claim, I was extremely impressed while sampling the Carson River. Every pan I sampled had gold & silver. I sampled some high bench material along the river as well and the results were gold & silver in every pan. The gold here is on the chunky side and hasn’t traveled far from the source. I believe most of the gold and silver is derived from the Silver Mountain area from Silver Creek and the Dixon Mine area on the East Fork Of The Carson River, however obviously no one has ever found the source. Access to this claim is very good off highway 89 and there is a gorgeous camp site off the main road along Indian Creek. There is also other pullouts along 89 to access the river throughout the claim. As always feel free to sample this claim and any other we have listed.

Driving Directions
There are several ways to come into Markleeville depending on if you are coming from California or Nevada. From Markleeville the claim is very easy to reach. Go through the Old Historic Mining Town of Markleeville on highway 89. To access the East Fork Of The Carson River stay on highway 89 out of Markleeville 1.5 miles and turn right just before reaching Hangmens Bridge over the Carson River. This road will lead you to an excellent camp site along Indian Creek and the East Carson River. There are also some nice large pullouts along 89 to access the river. The river on the claim is easily accessible for mining, fishing & recreation.
